Chairperson’s message

  • Carly Baker

No doubt our members and interested parties are already aware, but in order to give ourselves the best chance of having the in-person conference that we’re all looking forward to, we have made the decision to postpone the FCVic Conference, originally scheduled for mid-October. Our wonderful Melanie Keenan from Defining Events, along with our FCVic team, have been working extremely hard and have been able to lock in new dates for the event – 9-11 February 2022. I am sure many of you have already updated your calendars but, if not, add the new dates in now. I know we will all be looking forward to the opportunity to share the enjoyment of our conference in summer!

Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming FCVic AGM, which will be held at 4.30pm on Wednesday, 13 October via Zoom. Nominations are currently open to members for the FCVic Board elections. Members can nominate via the Members Portal, read more about how to nominate for the FCVic Board, or about the role of the FCVic Board.

The FCVic Board held a meet and greet on 24 August with FCVic members who were interested in learning more about the Board. I want to recognise the commitment and dedication of our Board members – it’s not always an easy job, but they always act with the best interests of our members and the people we work with in mind. I encourage any FCVic member who may be considering nominating for a Board position to feel free to contact me if they have any questions.

Even though things are tough, what I have observed is how well we continue to support each other – the many FCs offering support to their colleagues by sharing knowledge, mentoring, praising great work, and just checking in. I encourage you all to keep in touch so that we can share more good news stories, which we could all do with hearing at the moment.
