The Problem with Debt, a blog series for young carers – new post out!

  • Bella Walker

The next instalment in FCVic’s ‘Problem with Debt’ series has now been published on Little Dreamers’ Dreamers Hub. This new chapter continues the story of Julie, a young carer in Year 12, who is juggling study and work commitments while also trying to navigate the world of contracts and debt.

The ‘Problem with Debt’ blog series is one part of a suite of resources that FCVic has been developing with Little Dreamers, Australia’s leading young carers organisation. Developed by the FCVic projects team and drawing on the expertise of financial counsellor Robyn Angus, these resources are designed to increase young carers’ financial capability and confidence.

You can read the new instalment of Julie’s story, ‘How do credit cards work?’ here. You can also go back to the start and read the first two blog posts, ‘Understanding debt’ and ‘Which smartphone should I buy?’.

If you would like to know more about the Carers project – or the work we are doing with Little Dreamers – please email Bella Walker: [email protected]

This work is being funded by the Victorian Government through the Carers Statewide Partnerships Grants Round 1.

Little Dreamers is Australia’s leading Young Carer organisation, supporting young people aged four to 25 who provide care for a family member affected by disability, chronic or mental illness, addiction, or frail age. Across a range of direct support programs, both in-person and online, the organisation is improving the quality of life of Young Carers across five key areas: education, employment, mental and physical health, socialisation, and financial wellbeing. Their vision is a world in which every Young Carer is supported by someone or something by 2030. If you know a young carer who may wish to connect to either Little Dreamers or their Dreamers Hub, you can visit the Little Dreamers website for more information.
