Financial Counselling Victoria (FCVic) today welcomed the Victorian Government’s announcement it would fund new state-wide partnership projects designed to improve support for carers.
FCVic Executive Officer Sandy Ross described the announcement of funding for a 3 year project led by FCVic in partnership with Carers Victoria as “significant and exciting.”
“The project will give carers greater access to financial counselling and education, thereby reducing the financial stress many experience, while increasing carer’s financial capability,” said Dr Ross. “It is particularly pleasing that the Government has decided to fund projects over a three year period to enable projects to be designed for delivery of substantial changes with lasting positive impacts on carer wellbeing.”
The other funded projects announced include innovative work with young carers in school, with pathways for enhancing social and community interactions for carers, and with developing service hubs linked with Neighbourhood Houses.
“We congratulate the other funded bodies, and look forward to working with them and with carers to design and deliver lasting improvements in the social and community supports for their essential role,” said Dr Ross.
FCVic is the peak body for Financial Counsellors in Victoria.
