The Insurance in a Changing Climate forum was held in Melbourne on 26 July 2022, with over 70 people attending from a range of sectors including financial counselling, consumer law, academia, government and industry.
The ‘Problem with Debt’ blog series is one part of a suite of resources that FCVic has been developing with Little Dreamers, Australia’s leading young carers organisation. Developed by the FCVic projects team and drawing on the expertise of financial counsellor Robyn Angus, the series follows Julie, a young carer in Year 12, as she makes her first foray into the adult world of contracts and debt – while also providing engaging and accessible information about common sources of debt.
On 12 July, FCVic along with other members of the Economic Abuse Reference Group (EARG) wrote to the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP, Minister for Social Services, and other Ministers responsible for women’s safety, ahead of their meeting on 22 July to discuss issues including economic security.
