Insurance in a Changing Climate – Event summary

  • Insurance, Member news

The Insurance in a Changing Climate forum was held in Melbourne on 26 July 2022, with over 70 people attending from a range of sectors including financial counselling, consumer law, academia, government and industry.

Through three panel discussions, the forum explored the issues and challenges around housing and home and contents (HH&C) insurance in a world where climate disasters are becoming commonplace, and insurance inaccessible and unaffordable for many.

The forum demonstrated the value in bringing together the diverse perspectives that need to be involved in addressing policy reform on HH&C insurance issues, and the urgency and importance of reform.

Thank you to our panellists and attendees for their participation and engagement in the forum, and the event sponsors, whose valuable financial assistance enabled the event to take place.
