About the Role
This is an exciting leadership opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the financial wellbeing of women, families and communities across Australia. Leading a team of Financial Counsellors and Financial Capability Workers, you will champion best-practice service delivery, support professional excellence and oversee the effective operation of national financial counselling programs. Combining strong people leadership with strategic and operational expertise, you will help ensure clients receive timely, equitable and high-quality support while driving innovation, continuous improvement and positive outcomes for those experiencing financial hardship, financial abuse and other complex challenges.
This role is contracted until 31 October 2027.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team of Financial Counsellors and Financial Capability Workers, providing supervision, coaching and professional development to support excellent client outcomes.
- Oversee end-to-end service delivery, including intake, triage, allocation and client support processes, ensuring services are timely, equitable, client-centred and responsive to community needs.
- Provide expert practice leadership on complex financial counselling, financial abuse and family violence matters, supporting safe, ethical and evidence-informed decision-making across the team.
- Drive continuous improvement and service excellence by developing and enhancing service models, processes and quality assurance practices that strengthen program performance and client outcomes.
- Build strong partnerships and manage program performance, ensuring services meet funding and contractual requirements while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to maximise impact.
About you
- Qualifications: Diploma of Financial Counselling and current professional registration/membership.
- Experience: Proven leadership experience in financial counselling or community services, with a strong background in people leadership and service delivery.
- Mandatory Requirements: Minimum five years’ financial counselling experience and demonstrated knowledge of family violence, financial abuse and trauma-informed practice.
- Desirable skills: Experience managing intake and triage functions, leading dispersed teams, driving service improvement, and working within funded service environments.
- Attributes: Collaborative, client-centred and values-driven, with excellent communication skills, sound judgement, and a commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement.
