As part of FCVic’s Carers project we were delighted to present an introductory session to the NDIS ‘What is the NDIS and how does it work?’ in late March.
The session was presented by Jessica Quilty and Annika Thorup from DSC Consulting, an organisation specialising in NDIS training whose tagline is “we eat NDIS detail so you don’t have to”.
The session covered:
- NDIS background
- Reasonable and necessary
- Goals and funding
- NDIS players
- Complaints and review.
Jess and Annika were ably supported by Jo Middleton (Good Shepherd) and Amy Wolter (Uniting) who generously shared their own experiences navigating the NDIS along with their perspectives gained through peer group interactions and financial coaching and counselling.
DSC kindly agreed to our recording the session, and have supplied the powerpoint slides which include additional links which may be helpful for further exploration. They have also provided written answers to those questions raised during the session which could not be adequately covered within the time.
All these materials are available to members via the FCVic CPD library – a valuable reference for those who attended and those who were unable to make it.
FCVic’s Carers project is funded by the Victorian Government through the Carers Statewide Partnerships Grants Round 1, conducted in partnership with Carers Victoria.
