Over the past two months, FCVic has partnered with multicultural organisations across Victoria to deliver train-the-trainer style workshops to community leaders, as part of our Community-Led Financial Resilience Project, funded by Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. These sessions have focused on financial preparation and recovery in the face of disasters, equipping leaders with practical tools and resources to support their communities. We wrote about the pilot workshop for this project in our August update — click here to read.
We’ve been overwhelmed by the warm response and strong interest from communities in Gippsland, Bendigo, Wodonga, Wangaratta and Mildura. The workshops have been lively and interactive, with insightful questions and requests for future sessions. We’re proud to continue this vital and rewarding work in collaboration with:
- Gippsland Multicultural Services
- Loddon Campaspe Multicultural Services
- North East Multicultural Association (now Cultura)
- Albury Wodonga Ethnic Communities Council Inc.
- Sunraysia Mallee Ethnic Communities Council
In addition, FCVic’s Disaster Recovery Lead, Kellie Davis, attended the Emergency Preparedness Briefing hosted by VCOSS on Tuesday, 28 October. The session featured a presentation from Emergency Management Commissioner Tim Wiebusch ESM, outlining the forecasted risks for the upcoming high-risk season. It was a valuable opportunity to connect with other not-for-profit organisations and explore how we can work together in the disaster recovery space.
