More than four million people live in Owners Corporation communities across Australia, representing 16% of our population (Australasian Strata Insights Report 2022).

Trang Chau (senior solicitor), Nathan Dorman, (Solicitor) at Mortgage Stress Victoria and Lody Stewart, (Strategy Advocacy Lead) at FCA, have presented on Owners Corporation debt (Strata Debts): Practical Steps for Financial Counsellors. They have covered both what the problem is with Owners Corporation debt, how the courts are used to recover debt and provide case studies to illustrate the practical steps that you can take to help a client with Owners Corporation debt and when to refer your client for legal assistance or make complaints. Lody has addressed the current advocacy that consumer groups are undertaking with the Victorian government, and how you can contribute to helping achieve change.
