Dingley Village FC meets with Federal MP
In November 2020, the Federal Government released a proposed law that would wind back crucial responsible lending requirements that protect people from exploitative lending by banks and other lenders.
Over 120 organisations and individuals, including many financial counsellors, joined the campaign to Save Safe Lending and stop the Government from passing the bill. In March 2021, the Senate agreed to defer debate on the bill until later in the year.
As part of the campaign, Kate Smith – a financial counsellor at Make A Difference Dingley Village – met with her local MP, Mark Dreyfus QC, to inform him about the importance of the responsible lending obligations currently in place.
