As outlined in our April edition, FCVic is undertaking a Governance Review of its Constitution, as part of its ongoing commitment to strong, contemporary governance and to ensuring the organisation continues to work effectively for its members.
This review aligns closely with FCVic’s Strategic Plan 2025–2028, launched in October 2025, which emphasises organisational sustainability, clarity of purpose, and supporting members through strong, effective systems and structures.
The purpose of the Governance Review is to ensure that FCVic’s Constitution remains:
- Contemporary and aligned with current law and good governance practice
- Comprehensible and accessible to members
- Practical and functional in supporting FCVic’s work and decision-making
The Governance Review is being led by the FCVic Board, with support from an external governance expert and FCVic staff, and is grounded in direct consultation with members. We are consulting with members throughout the process, and updating key stakeholders on the progress of the review.
Update on Consultations
Earlier today, Friday 29 May, we held a workshop at FCVic’s offices and online, with interested FCVic members and Board members, as well as FCVic’s CEO and staff.
The aim of the workshop was to discuss each key proposed change to FCVic’s Constitution and to agree on how best to approach the proposed changes to each broad subject area.
Having an agreed general approach from the workshop will greatly assist FCVic in communicating and sharing a new proposed version of the Constitution for all members to consider.
We plan to have a final version of the proposed Constitution ready to share with all members from mid-to-late June, well in advance of voting on any proposed changes at FCVic’s Annual General Meeting in October 2026.
FCVic will continue to share updates with members and key stakeholders as the review progresses. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Projects Coordinator Georgina Molloy at [email protected].
