About the Governance Review
FCVic is undertaking a Governance Review of its Constitution, as part of its ongoing commitment to strong, contemporary governance and to ensuring the organisation continues to work effectively for its members. This review aligns closely with FCVic’s Strategic Plan 2025–2028, launched in October 2025, which emphasises organisational sustainability, clarity of purpose, and supporting members through strong, effective systems and structures.
The purpose of the Governance Review is to ensure that FCVic’s Constitution remains:
- Contemporary and aligned with current law and good governance practice
- Comprehensible and accessible to members
- Practical and functional in supporting FCVic’s work and decision-making
The Governance Review is being led by the FCVic Board, with support from an external governance expert and FCVic staff, and is grounded in direct consultation with members. We are consulting with members throughout the process, and also updating key stakeholders on the progress of the review.
Update on consultations
In our consultation with members so far this year, we have:
- Surveyed members on views on FCVic’s Constitution and governance within our annual Member Survey (February 2026).
- Invited responses from members to the Governance Review Consultation Paper and Member Explainer summary document, which outline the background and key themes for change to the FCVic Constitution (18 March – 17 April 2026). FCVic received several detailed responses from members to the Consultation Paper, and we thank our members for taking the time to respond with such care and detail.
- Arranged briefings: our governance expert has been presenting on the Governance Review Consultation Paper and key themes for change to FCVic members via FCVic’s geographic member network meetings across April and May.
Our next step in the Governance Review to engage with members is to host a workshop on the proposed changes to FCVic’s Constitution. The Governance Review workshop will take place on Friday, 29 May 2026, with select FCVic members, as well as FCVic Board members, FCVic’s CEO, and FCVic staff. The aim of the workshop will be to discuss the proposed changes to FCVic’s Constitution and recommendations, and to agree on how to best approach the proposed changes to each specific subject area of FCVic’s Constitution. As a final outcome from the day, we hope to obtain clear direction and agreement on each area of proposed change under FCVic’s Constitution. Members of FCVic are invited to express an interest in attending the workshop by email to Georgina Molloy at FCVic ([email protected]) by Friday, 8 May 2026.
Having an agreed general approach from interested FCVic members and the FCVic Board from the workshop will greatly assist FCVic to communicate and share a new proposed version of the FCVic Constitution for all FCVic members to consider. We plan to have the final version of the proposed Constitution ready to share with all our members from mid-June, well in advance of voting for any proposed changes at FCVic’s Annual General Meeting in October 2026.
FCVic is also updating key stakeholders on the progress of this review and will continue to share updates as the review progresses. If FCVic members or other stakeholders have any questions about the review or would otherwise like more information, please contact Projects Coordinator Georgina Molloy ([email protected]).
