The Council Rates Hardship Forum Series. It brought together financial counsellors and Victorian local government finance and rates teams to discuss and understand how councils are supporting vulnerable ratepayers, and how financial counsellors can provide free and confidential assistance to ratepayers experiencing financial hardship.
Financial Counselling Victoria (FCVic) is pleased to support the work of the Victorian Government\’s Small Business Wellbeing Project, and advance the emerging professional specialisation in small business financial counselling.
The COVID-19 pandemic has shown the importance of stable and safe housing and continuing access to energy and water services. The Energy and Water Ombudsman Victoria (EWOV), in partnership with Financial Counselling Victoria, hosted a Community Agency roundtable for key community stakeholders in Gippsland to discuss these and other issues on 17th February 2021.

Between September and December 2020, FCVic conducted a series four forums for financial counsellors to meet with representatives from the Banking, Energy, Telecommunications and Tenancy sectors. The Hardship Forum is a process designed to facilitate structured engagement on hardship, between financial counsellors and creditors.
In alternating issues of the Devil’s Advocate, the FCVic Chairperson contributes a message to the sector.
