Zyl Hovenga-Wauchope is the Chief Executive Officer of Financial Counselling Victoria, where he champions the financial counselling profession and advocates for Victorians experiencing financial hardship. He is a strategic and values-driven leader committed to advancing social and economic justice.

Zyl has worked across the community sector for over a decade, including in leadership roles within financial counselling and member-based organisations. Alongside his professional work, he has contributed to a range of community organisations through voluntary governance roles, reflecting a longstanding commitment to strengthening the sector and supporting community outcomes.

He holds a Master of Laws from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Australian Catholic University, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Zyl is the father of four young children and values the flexibility of the community sector in supporting people to balance professional responsibilities with family life. He brings this perspective into his leadership, including a focus on practical approaches to workplace inclusion and sustainability.
