Workforce Development Project
Thank you to all our members who have responded to FCVic’s Member Survey! We are gathering our financial counsellors’ feedback on caseloads in one section of this survey for our Workforce Development project—it is so valuable to get your feedback.
If you’re a financial counsellor and you’ve not yet completed the Member Survey, please jump in and give your thoughts about your caseloads—check your inbox for the link. Responses are due by Friday, 28 February.
Our other activities in the Workforce Development project are tracking well, and we are grateful to all our agency managers and members who are giving us helpful insights into what you think is needed for the financial counselling sector, as well as vital information on client outcomes and services to help our consultants calculate the economic benefits of financial counselling.
One update for agency managers—FCVic’s survey of agency managers, run by our consultants at Impact Economics, has been extended by one week and will now close on Friday, 7 March to allow you more time to respond. Please check your inbox for the agency managers’ survey link and reach out to Projects Coordinator Georgina Molloy ([email protected]) if you have any questions.
FCVic also strongly encourages you all to complete Financial Counselling Australia’s surveys for the National Workforce Strategy, as both FCVic’s and FCA’s project teams are collaborating on these important strategies. We hope both the Victorian and National Strategies will shape the future of the financial counselling profession.
Rank the Energy Retailer
As noted in the January edition of Devils’ Advocate, an exciting national project is underway to Rank the Energy Retailer!
FCVic is leading this project along with our partners, the Consumer Policy Research Centre, Financial Counselling Australia, and Energy Consumers Australia. Energy Consumers Australia is funding this project as part of its Grants Program to support consumer advocacy and research projects.
To rank energy retailers, FCVic will be asking our Victorian financial counsellors to give their feedback on their interactions with energy retailers via a 20-minute survey. As this is a national project, all other state associations will also be asking their members to participate in this survey.
We have dates to announce for the Rank the Energy Retailer survey: it opens on Friday, 14 March and closes Thursday, 10 April 2025. Given the value of this survey data for the sector to understand energy retailers’ conduct, FCVic requests that agency managers please encourage their financial counsellors to complete this survey and support it being completed during work hours.
We are excited to hear what financial counsellors across Australia have to say about their clients’ experiences with energy retailers, and we thank you in advance for bringing the Victorian voice to this project. Any questions, please direct them to Georgina Molloy via [email protected].
