Professional Indemnity Insurance Options for Professional Supervisors

Read about this resource

In May 2020, the FCVic Board made a number of enquiries into professional indemnity insurance options for professional supervisors who provide supervision external to their agency. There were limited, appropriate options available. This information provided here outlines the policy option offered by AJ Gallagher.

This is just one option for professional indemnity insurance and professional supervisors should ensure this policy is right for them before applying. Professional supervisors can source their own alternative policies.

Read about this CPD

When Gambling and Family Violence intersect session was targeted at specialist gambling FCs. It has drawn attention to the complex area where gambling and Family Violence intersect.

This recording includes scenarios where the person gambling is the perpetrator of FV or the victim of FV, as well as the other side of the story: affected others and financial abuse. Family Violence and harmful gambling are both common and harmful public health problems. Experience of one increases a co-occurrence of the other. For some victims of family violence gambling can function as a survival tool. What are the challenges that arise for us as workers? How can we best support people affected by gambling harm and FV?

How Does Centrelink Treat Compensation Payments & Assets

  • 2 hrs
  • 1 CPD points
  • Skills
Read about this CPD

Receiving compensation for lost income due to an injury or traumatic event can be emotionally restorative and provide people with greater financial freedom, however many people may not realise the impact it can have on their Centrelink payments.
Similarly, people who are planning for a new financial period of their lives, such as downsizing in their retirement, may not understand how the sale of their primary residence and purchase of a new primary residence will be treated by Centrelink in the asset test.
In this session, Eloise Cox, Community Lawyer with Social Security Rights Victoria’s Integrated Services Project, have given an overview of compensation preclusion periods, the assets test, income deeming provisions and common challenges people face in these areas.
This session has also addressed the avenues people can pursue when they do not agree with a Centrelink decision – including appeals – and what help is available for clients and community workers (i.e. when and what SSRV can help with).
