Small Business Debt Helpline
Phone service available 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
The Small Business Debt Helpline was set up in 2020 by Financial Counselling Australia (FCA) with funding from the Australian Government to support small business owners affected by bushfires. The Helpline is now supporting all small business owners.
Financial counsellors can contact the Helpline for secondary consults.

The 14 ‘Foundations’ modules align with the Diploma of Financial Counselling unit CHCFIN010: Apply basic concepts of small business to financial counselling. The 6 ‘Advanced’ modules provide more specialist content to suited to small business financial counsellors’ practice.

SMALL BUSINESS IN DEPTH -Small business insolvency – a focus on tax issues

Led by insolvency experts Innis Cull and David Vasudevan from Pitcher Partners, this session provides an overview of the types of tax debts common in business insolvency, the key challenges involved in navigating tax debts with the ATO, and implications for personal liability including situations where the debt may not be provable or extinguished in personal bankruptcy.

Small business: Franchises and the Code of Conduct

Presented by the ACCC and ASBFEO, this session focuses on franchises including protections under the Franchising Code of Conduct (the Code), the ACCCs role in enforcing relevant provisions in the law and the Code, common areas of dispute, what the obligation for franchisees and franchisors to ‘act in good faith’ means and Code provisions dealing with the end or termination of a franchise agreement.
