Small Business: Negotiation options where legal protections are limited
- 1-2 hrs
- 1 CPD points
- Skills
Small Business: Negotiation options where legal protections are limited session has considered negotiation strategies for Financial Counsellors advocating on behalf of small business owners, when there are little or no legal protections to support the negotiations. With business credit and finances not regulated in the same way as they are for individual consumers, advanced negotiation skills and mediation skills can be very helpful in discussions with creditors of small business owners. Andrew Moffat, Senior fellow and lecturer in mediation at the Melbourne Law School, has shared his tips with us as well as traps to look out, followed by an opportunity to ask your questions.

Social Security and Centrelink can be frustrating and confusing to deal with, but for people experiencing hardship, getting their entitlements right can make a huge difference to their lives. It can also help avoid making their situation worse through overpayments and debts.
In this session recording , Dermott Williams, Community Lawyer with Social Security Rights Victoria’s Integrated Services Project, have given an overview of Centrelink, the circumstances where payments may be available, and common issues and challenges people face in dealing with the social security system.
The presenters have also addressed the avenues people can pursue when they are not happy with a Centrelink decision – including appeals – and what help is available for clients and community workers (i.e. when and what SSRV can help with).
