Cultural competence – Working across language and culture workshop was delivered by the Centre for Culture Ethnicity and Health (CEH). The session introduced to key concepts of migration, diversity and cultural competence. FCs’ have explored their own culture and values through engaging activities and reflect on how these effect workplace and client interactions.

Debt Enforcement – Part 1 e-Learning

Debt Enforcement e-learning is presented by Consumer Action Law focusing on the Debt Enforcement system. It give you an overview of the debt enforcement process and look at the different enforcement options available to creditors and how you assess the consequences to your client of not paying a debt.

Debt Vultures

A case study drawn from CALC’s work has been used to support an interactive session designed to identify who debt vultures are and explore how legal principles apply to various business models that debt vultures use. Presenters have teased out strategies for assisting clients who have been targeted by debt vultures as well as build knowledge about what reform is needed and how FCs can contribute to systemic change.

Demystifying small business for Financial Counsellors

Assisting a lot of Small Business Owners can be much the same as assisting Individuals in financial difficulty, particularly if the small business is a sole trader or business partner. Your generalist Financial Counselling skills are very relevant.
This session was aimed at FCs who occasionally assist small business owners, or those wanting to know more about small business. If you have recently completed the FC Diploma Small Business Unit this session will reinforce and complement your learnings.
During this training presenters have highlighted the similarities between assisting Individuals and Small Business Owners and also outlined some key differences. The focus was on sole traders.
